== Difference Between Tinning and Soldering ==
Tinning is simply the act of applying a very thin layer of solder to the surface of the material to protect the surface from oxidation or to make it so the metal blends in with the rest of the project. 

The amount of solder applied with tinning is so minimal that thin materials like [[Foil]] are hardly any stronger than the would have been without the tinned layer. Thus it does not provide any reasonable amount of structure or strength.
