Lens Cutter

Lense Cutters are a type of hand tool for cutting circles by using a support arm connected to a base plate that holds a spinning handle holding a metal bar with the scoring head on it. The glass is scored by the person pushing down on and rotating the handle at the same time. Lens cutters are better for smaller circles as the body of the tool is above and behind the work, though this limits the maximum size. 0.375in(9.525mm) to 5in(127mm) is the typical range for lense cutters, anything larger will require a Circle Cutter.

How to Use

1. Measure the Diameter or Radius of the circle you wish to make.
2. Set the Lens Cutter to the Radius or half of the Diameter. Note: If your tool has a ruler on it, verify it is correct before using it!
3. Place the glass to be scored under the center of the Lens Cutter arm so that the smoothest flattest side is up.
4. Spin the handle around without pressing to make sure the glass is placed in a spot where the head will score the desired area.
5. Apply pressure to the handle and spin.
6. Add some Relief Cuts to free the part.
7. Run the score lines to remove the waste glass.
